EDUCATION & TRAINING
Dr Vincent Lai attained his basic medical degree from the University of Sheffield, UK in 1993. He undertook his specialist training in Gastroenterology and Hepatology in England and spent five years in the Regional transplant unit at the University Hospital of Birmingham; one of the largest in Europe. In 2002, he was awarded the prestigious Medical Research Council Clinical Training Fellowship, and completed his Ph.D. degree in University of Birmingham in 2007, investigating the liver immunity in viral hepatitis. Then he was accredited by the Specialist Accreditation Board in Gastroenterology, UK in 2006. He worked as a consultant in a teaching hospital (University of Nottingham) prior to taking up a post in the liver transplant programme in National University Hospital Singapore.

WORKING EXPERIENCE
In 2008, Dr Lai came to Singapore to take up a post in the liver transplant programme in National University Hospital Singapore and helped set up a Liver Transplant unit. From 2011 to 2014, Dr Lai was working in Asian American Liver Centre for Liver Diseases and Transplantation (Gleneagles Hospital) as a Consultant Gastroenterologist with a specific interest in viral hepatology, acute liver failure, therapeutic endoscopy and liver transplantation. Currently, Dr Lai runs his own practice at Gastro Liver and Surgical Centre.
